Recently I visited my mom and picked up a small box of books that I selected from my late father’s massive collection on metaphysical, New Age, and related topics. Here are a few that I recommend so far:
- Venture Inward: The Incredible Story of Edgar Cayce by Hugh Lynn Cayce
- The Heyday of Spiritualism by Slater Brown
- Recovering The Soul: A Scientific and Spiritual Search by Larry Dossey, M.D.
- Be Careful What You Pray For… You Just Might Get It by Larry Dossey, M.D.
- The Philosophy of Jesus … for the World Today by Ernest Holmes
Edgar Cayce’s story is more popular than ever. I remember that whenever we would play “Pit”, my dad would often mention that the game was invented by Edgar Cayce because he was too psychic to have fun playing games like bridge, since he could read the minds of the other players. Believe it or not, as the theme song goes.
I just started reading Be Careful What You Pray For…, which covers the intriguing topic of negative prayers (aka curses or hexes), their effectiveness, and side effects. I’ll report any thoughts I have on this and the other topics in future posts.
